About Gumference

The Tomas Bata University in Zlín (Czech Republic) and the Leibniz-Institut für Polymerforschung Dresden e.V. (Germany) are pleased to welcome you to the website dedicated to the international conference on “Advanced testing of soft polymer materials”.
The conference aims to bring together a community of researchers from academia and industry who are interested in methods for testing material properties that have so far not been characterized by conventionally available approaches.

Research results to be introduced

Within the Gumference the currently achieved novel results from the international project entitled Modeling Wear of Intrinsically Self-Healing Elastomers for Reduced Particle Emission and Improved Lifetime Performance in Future e-Mobility Concepts will be introduced.

Publication of papers in Polymer Bulletin

Each speaker will have the opportunity to have their paper published in the high quality scientific journal Polymer Bulletin published by Springer within the topical collection entitled: Advanced Testing of Soft Polymer Materials edited by Radek Stoček and Eric Euchler.

Organizers

Assoc. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Radek StočekDirector of the department „Rubber Technologies”
Radek Stoček received his Dr.-Ing. in 2012 at the Chemnitz University of Technology (Germany). Then he started an industrial career at Polymer Research Lab (PRL), Zlin (Czech Republic) and parallel an independent academic career at the Tomas Bata University (TBU) in Zlín. He finished his habilitation in 2019. Currently, he is holding two positions as Head of R&D at PRL and Head of the Rubber Department at TBU. His research and scientific interests are focused on the characterization of rubber material properties concerning fatigue and fracture mechanics and the development of new and advanced testing methodologies, hardware and equipment. His work has been recognized by awards from the Tire Society (USA). R. Stoček is the author of 53 publications (according to Scopus) and holds three Utility Models.

Dr.-Ing. Eric EuchlerGroup leader „Mechanics and Structure of elastomeric Materials”
In 2020, Eric Euchler received his Dr.-Ing. at the Dresden University of Technology (Germany). During his doctorate, he was affiliated with the Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research Dresden e.V. (Germany), where he is now the leader of the research group “Mechanics and Structure of elastomeric Materials”. His research work is dedicated to an improved understanding of the process-structure-properties relation of elastomers, with a special interest in the combination of advanced mechanical testing and high-resolution structure analysis. He is the author of over 10 papers in high-ranked scientific journals.
